There is speculation that she may be thinking about a Presidential bid in 2012 and that she is positioning herself toward that possibility. But there are also many potential obstacles to her getting the Republican Party endorsement and then elected President in 2012, e.g., her current lack of qualifications and the investigations into possible ethics violations in the Alaskan "Trooper Gate" (where she has been accused of using her power of the Governor's office to impose influence on personnel with motives of a personal nature), etc. There are critics of her who believe she is very under-qualified for the Vice Presidential position, so in their eyes she would have to gain much more experience and knowledge between now and 2012 to be seriously considered for running for the highest US Executive Office position.
Her resignation before completing her term as Governor in Alaska is an indication to many that she could not still be considering running for an even higher office and responsibility.
She has stated that if she did not get the vice presidency she would "consider the role of higher authority" (President).

No, Sarah Palin quit in 2009, not finishing her first term as governor. She said she was tired of tax dollars being spent on the numerous allegations of corruption in her administration. This being said, she may run for president in 2012.
Yes, I believe that he is Todd's son. Don't think they would have wanted Sarah to run for President if not.
I don't know much about her life, but I don't think that she should be a vice president or president. I say president because supposedly she wants to run for president in 2012.
