I do believe there are chiggers in New Hampshire. I sat on a river back amongst pine needles on the ground. I read that this is a popular 'hang out' spot for chiggers. My boyfriend was wearing long pants and did not get bitten. I unfortunately was wearing shorts. I had so many terribly itchy bites on my legs and thighs that I missed a day of work. The itching did resolve in about 4 days-thank heavens-it was awful. I spent some time in Alabama, where I believe is a well known chigger haven, and got bitten there as well- not so bad because a local told me to "get off the ground." I researched them and found many different opinions as to whether these mites have migrated to the NE. I say yes they have.
