After bowing to colonists' refusal of the Stamp Act, Parliament sought to establish immediate control of the situation and the colonies. It declared it had the full right to make laws to bind the people and colonies of America in all cases with or without Parliamentary representation. As can be expected, this did not go over well with the colonists who took it to mean there were going to be more aggressive attempts to subjugate them on the way
After the Stamp Act, colonists were furious. Britain reacted to this by repealing the Stamp Act and proposing the Quaternary Act, in which colonists were forced to house British soldiers.xd
The French colonial attempts were mainly by force, while Spanish colonial attempts employed things like bribery, mainly using newly developed things such as maracas, enchiladas, and lawn mowers.

A peace monger is one who attempts to stir up or spread ideals that would make possible a security from civil or moral dysfunction with the intent of establishing harmonious relations within the specified group. Such ideals would stand open to debate or scrutiny, not necessarily establishing the desired affect.

Boston tea party
The Townshend Acts required the colonists to pay taxes without their consent. This taxes were placed upon the Colonies by Britain. The colonists were perturbed over these taxes, resulting in such things like the Boston Tea Party in attempts to rebel against these taxes.
Robert E. Lee believed that his attempts to invade Pennsylvania were cursed from above. He would shake his fist at the sky and shout "Even the skies are against me in Pennsylvania!"
