It is doubtful that the settlers and the Native Americans could have coexisted together peacefully. They both had different views on land ownership and their cultures were too different to exist together.

because the settlers brought missionaries to convert what they saw as "Godless Devils" and "Savages", Native Americans didn't like how the settlers abused hunting and leaving waste on the land that made them continually pushing farther inland
