Dwight D. Eisenhower was the American president during the 1950s, an era known for consumption and conformity. This was a result of tumultuous times following World War II, and in turn led to the countercultural, anti-consumerist movements of the 1960s in the United States and abroad.

Where can you locate German World War 2 casualty figures by campaign?

Feldgrau.com has a tabel. On the webadress : http://www.feldgrau.com/stats.HTML. It contains a relatively detailed account of German military casualties by year, service and also to some degree by campaign. It is however only the largescale "Theatre" campaigns that are given. F.ex. if you want to get an idea of how many German soldiers were killed-in-action on the eastern front you can get the numbers (not exact, but approximate) on feldgrau.com, but if you want to know the casualties in smaller "subcampaigns", f.ex. Stlaingrad campaign or Kursk offensive, within that larger campaign, then you will probably have to dig into specific historical accounts and even then there will be a great variation in the numbers given.

What would happen to the moon if there was not any gravity What about the planets?

Without gravity, there would be no largescale structure to the universe. If it simply stopped existing, the moon would fly off from earth orbit; the earth and planets would fly away from the sun into deep space, and not only would the solar system dismantle itself but so would the galaxy. Also, the atmosphere would drift off into space, as would (the shortly thereafter dead) human race, and everything else not fixed to the surface of the planet. However, gravity is very much built into the universe - the structure of the universe is based on it being there (and having the relationship with other fundamental forces that it does). It's a very hypothetical question - the thought that you could "lose" gravity but keep everything else in the universe somehow well-behaved.

What are some small cities in Italy?

Italy is a fair-sized country by European standards, so there are countless small cities there. Many have very old and beautiful centres. One of my favourites is Ravenna, which functioned as capital of the West Roman Empire from 402 till 476. Later, it was for a while (in the sixth century AD) the capital of Italy when it was ruled by the Ostrogoths. But this is a personal view. Get hold of a largescale map of Italy, pour over it and pick out a few places that capture your imagination. *A city of outstanding interest is Matera in Basilicata, Southern Italy, where many of the oldest dwelling are hewn out of the rocks in the hills. These appartments, if that's the right word for them, were refurbished from about 1980 onwards. (For a long time these dwellings were despised as slums, but now they are fashionable). *A third city that is of interest to travelers is [http://www.vallesangiovanni.com Valle San Giovanni], a small town of 350 people located near Teramo in the Abruzzo Region of Italy.

My Fiance's mom is painting the living room and she has dark green carpet and shes wanting to brighten the room up what colors do you think she could pait the walls to go with the green carpet?

Before you think color, think light. Keep the window dressing minimal or at least mostly open. Finally, note the darkest sections of the room and install lighting (lamps, recessed lights, cable lighting is superflexible, can spotlight art, tablescapes, etc). Second, know what mood you want, bright for reading or crafts, bright for play or simply light for relaxation. Obviously, you cannot go wrong with neutrals (grays, taupes, beiges, palest yellows). I would avoid primary colors (deep reds, yellows and blues) unless you're going for the "box of crayons" look. Finally, buy sample sizes of what strikes your fancy and apply 1 square foot (at least) to the wall that gets the most light (or each wall). Live with it for a few weeks and get the families' reaction. Don't neglect bold artwork, largescale (4x4<) is best as glass will reflect light back into the space (big mirrors too). And here, you needn't avoid any colors because the work is framed and doesn't touch the floor. gl

Is Magadha empire a witness to the rise and fall of several empires?

Several reasons account for the rise and growth of the Magadhan Empire, in the first place the emperors who ascended the throne of Magadha from the time of Bimbisara were mostly conquerors. This policy of conquest continued till the time of the Kalinga war under Asoka's regime. Secondly, many emperors of Magadha extended the empire not merely by conquest. They acquired territories by matrimonial alliances. For example, Bimbisara, his son Ajatasatru and others obtained territories through matrimonial relationship. This was one of the important factors that led to the expansion of Magadha. Thirdly, Magadha had other advantages too. Geographically, it was located in a position where their had been richest iron deposits. With the help of iron Magadha could produce weapons for war. Also iron implements were helpfii) to increase agricultural products. Fourthly, the capital of Magadha, first at Rajgir and then shifted to Pataliputra were both situated at very strategic points. It was difficult for the invaders to do any harm to the Magadha and its capital Fifthly, the military organization of Magadha was also very strong. The largescale use of elephants was helpful in storming fortresses. Sixthly, it has been pointed out by Professor R.S.Shanna that the unorthodox character of the Magadhan society showed much enthusiasm for expansion. These are the reasons why Magadha was successful in building up an empire. Brihadratha has been referred to in the Mahabharata as the founder of the kingdom of Magadha. But historically Bimbisara is known to be the first important king of Magadha.
