The two major battles that helped turn the war around for the North in 1862 were the Battle of Antietam and the Battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Antietam was particularly significant as it was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history and ended Confederate General Robert E. Lee's first invasion of the Union. The Battle of Gettysburg was a pivotal three-day battle that resulted in a Union victory and marked the turning point of the war, leading to a decline in Confederate morale and ultimately the Union's control of the South.
There were two battles of Bull Run and the location was in Virginia near Manassas. One was in 1861 and the other was in 1862. The South won each of these battles.
There were two Battles of Bull Run as it was called in the North (or two Battles of Manassas as it was called in the South). In the first battle (1861), General McDowell was the general for the North, and General Beauregard was the general for the South. In the second battle (1862), General Pope was the general for the North, and General Lee was the general for the South.

In the early days of the war, the South seemed to win every conflict. The blockade, the capture and control of the Mississippi and New Orleans and U.S.Grant turned the tide. While the South won more battles, the important ones went to the Yankees.
The question does not specify which of the two Battles of Bull Run (1861 and 1862), but both of them were clear and undeniable victories for the South, and the North was twice forced to leave the battlefield at Bull Run. Actually, the South won the majority of battles in the Civil War because of superior military leadership, but each Southern victory weakened them more, whereas the Northern ability to make war was not diminished by the many battles they lost.
