The 1665 Concession and Agreement document guaranteed settlers there would be no taxes, and a vote by the assembly would be necessary before any taxes would be added. However, colonists had to pay annual quit-rent tax.

ANSWER:

All of the colonies had plenty of wood, and frame houses which could be seen everywhere.

Many houses in the Delaware River Valley and Hudson River Valley were of Scandinavian or Dutch design.

Many wealthy colonial merchants and planters built homes in a style called the Georgian architecture. Most Georgian homes were square or rectangular. The front door was large and impressive, and the main rooms had fine wood paneling.

Bricks were made in every colony during the 1700's, but wood cost less and remained the most popular building material throughout the colonial period.
