You have to look for a small letter called the mint mark. D = Denver, S = San Francisco, and P or no letter = Philadelphia.
It can be very confusing to find a mint mark because the Mint has used different ways of marking coins over the years.
Prior to 1965, most coins had their mint marks on the back side, but cents had them under the date. Philadelphia coins did not have mint marks.
During the coin shortage that occurred following the changeover from silver to copper-nickel coinage in 1964, the Mint suspended the use of mint mark letters from 1965 to 1967, when enough new coins had been minted and distributed.
Starting in 1968, all coins had their mint marks moved to the front side, near the date except on quarters where it's near the tail of Washington's wig. Philadelphia coins were still blank.
In 1979 (dollars) and 1980 (nickels to halves) the Philadelphia mint started using a P mint mark on all coins except cents. Cents were left blank because the San Francisco and West Point mints occasionally strike that denomination when Philadelphia and Denver are maxed out, but the Mint didn't want to create "instant rarities" if the production runs were small.
The site below shows the mint mark letters and positions for every U.S. coin minted.
Look on the reverse of the coin. If there is a small "D" or "S" under the word "ONE" then it was minted in Denver or San Francisco. If there is no letter below"ONE" it was minted in Philadelphia.
It's the year that the coin was minted. If you look under the date you can tell where it was minted, too: "D" = Denver Mint "S" = San Francisco No letter = Philadelphia
Yes and no. If your coin was minted in Denver it will have a "D" mintmark, however, if your coin was minted in Philadelphia, it will have no mintmark.
Please check your coin again and post a new question. San Francisco only minted cents and dimes in 1955. Nickels were minted in Philadelphia and Denver.
This means that the coin was minted in Philadelphia. If it had a "D" mintmark, it would be minted in Denver and an "S" means San Francisco. It is quite common for early coins minted in Philadelphia to not have a mint mark on them.

Eisenhower Dollars were minted from 1971 through 1978 at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco mints. The mint mark is located on the Obverse [heads] side of the coin at the base of Eisenhower's neck and above the date. A letter "D" indicates the coin was minted at the Denver mint. An "S" indicates the coin was minted at the San Francisco mint. If there is no letter, that indicates the coin was minted at Philadelphia. Please examine your coin to determine the date it was minted and the mint where it was struck. When you have this information, post a new question concerning it and an estimated value can be given.

The 1943 Wheat Cent was made of steel.Very few of these coins are known to have been made of copper. To determine where the coin was minted it is necessary to locate the mint mark. This mark is a small letter located just below the date. If there is an "S" there the coin was minted in San Francisco. If there is a "D" the coin was minted in Denver. The mint is the place where the coin was made. In the US there are several. If the coin has a D next to the date, it was minted in Denver. S is for San Francisco.
The U.S. has never minted a coin in Delaware. In 1932 Mints were located in Philadelphia (no mint mark), Denver (D) and San Francisco (S).
It means that the coin was minted at the San Fransisco mint. If a penny has a D, it means the coin was minted at the Denver mint. If it has no mintmark, it was minted at the Philadelphia mint.
