First and foremost, it put the Indians on equal footing with the whites. But they could hunt much better with a horse and gun. Hunting buffalo became more efficient and certainly less dangerous as they could stay a safe distance away for the kill. As with every people prior to the advent of the car, horses meant power and coupled with guns changed their entire social structure.

Native Americans were significantly effected by the introduction of horses and rifles on the Plains Natives. Their entire way of obtaining food changed. Buffalo and deer meat became easier to hunt on horseback and with a rifle.

For a time the Native Americans were complacent about European settlers. That soon ended in various places. In Georgia and Alabama, for example, Cherokee Natives were forced to march to what is now Oklahoma. The better ways of hunting soon became no way to prevent the Natives from losing more and more every year.

Horses and guns affected the native Americans because with horses it meant that they could get to places quickly and they were faster in general. Also guns affected them because the tribe wielding the gun would usually be the tribe winning in battle unless the other tribe also posses guns. It also meant that hunting became much easier for them and considering this, it meant the native Americans would become more healthy. with these two new facilities, the native Americans were finally beginning to develop, but this also meant that the native Americans may have become lazy because everything became easier for them when guns and horses were introduced to them by the European settlers.

How does prospecting of gold and silver affect the plains native Americans?

What intervention by the Europeans affect the lives of the Native American?

Europeans valued everything in money terms. Native Americans wanted to live in balance with nature. The Native American population decreased due to disease, war, and government removal to land that would not support them. Native Americans easily became sick from European-imported illnesses. Epidemics of smallpox and measles killed many. The Native American way of life changed after trading with the Europeans. At first Native Americans wanted metal products which they couldn't make themselves, such as axe-heads and knives. Later they realized the value of guns. Having guns and horses completely changed the way Native Americans hunted for food. After the Revolutionary War officially ended in 1783, settlers again poured into Native American territory. This forced Native Americans to move westward. Native Americans had no concept of "private property". Because of this many treaties were signed giving "white men" the right to take the land. kanyokok@yahoo.com

How has the control of the land and its resources by Europeans affect the Native Americans?

They may have introduced horses, but that's debatable. They brought over diseases like smallpox, which Europeans were immune but wiped out NA communities. They also brought guns and killed people, and made firearms popular with Native Americans. If it weren't for the Europeans, we'd still have thriving tribes.
