The early colonists shaped the America's political and social ideals in many ways. They shaped the political ideals by finding a way for the government to be fair for everyone. They came up with the idea of democracy and popular sovereignty. These ideas deal with giving some power to the citizens. The people get to elect our political leaders and get to have a role in the government. The colonists shaped the social ideals by trying to relate to what the people would want in their government. Which is a say in some of what the government is doing. The colonists impacted history by many ways but the way they shaped our government is one of the most important.

The pilgrims were the first to establish a system of government in the new world. Colonist created a way to give power to the people. This shaped our ideas on popular sovereignty in America today, so the colonists were a major part in American history and the democracy of our country.
