The colonists treated the natives with respect until they started to starve because they didn't know how to grow things. they also started to take over their land and that wasn't very respectful of them and the natives could kill them because of how they treated them.

Although the native Americans wanted to have peace with the settlers there was no way around the fighting that sprung up when the settlers needed more space to exspand the ever changing citys and amount of people.
the relationship between the two was a very harsh one.This is because the Americans mistreated the settlers so much that some even ended up dieing
