Although it has 5c on the reverse and no other denomination, it's not a nickel, it's a Half Dime. So assuming the coin is circulated, the 1829 Capped Bust Half Dime is the first year of issue (1829-1837) for this series of half dimes. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. Most show heavy wear. In general retail values for low grade coins are $45.00-$65.00, better grade are $80.00-$185.00 and coins showing almost no wear run from $200.00-$355.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelery or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
