First you need to check the back, above the "DO" in DOLLAR, for a mintmark. There may be a small "O", "S", or "CC" there. There may also be nothing there.
In average circulated condition, with a "CC" mintmark, it's worth $80-$100. With any other (or no) mintmark, it's worth $8-$10
In almost uncirculated condition, with a "CC" mintmark, it's worth about $200. With any other (or no) mintmark, it's worth about $15
An uncirculated coin will be worth about $400 with a "CC" mintmark, $40 with an "O" mintmark, or $20 with an "S" (or no) mintmark.
The going price for a 1881 $10 gold liberty head coin is about $600; but that can vary considerably depending on its condition.
Assuming the coin is circulated and has no mintmark, the 1881 Morgan (not a Liberty Head) dollar is a very common coin with retail values of $32.00-$39.00 depending on the grade.
Assuming the coin is circulated, the 1881-S Morgan is very common and retail values are $26.00-$32.00.
One dollar??
Retail value is likely $185.00-$225.00 but it depends on what the coin actually grades out at.

What you presumably have is a James Buchanan presidential dollar coin. It was minted in 2010 and is worth one dollar.
Do you want to check those dates again? 1881 has nothing to do with President Adams. If you have a gold-colored coin that's 26 mm in diameter, the dates will be 1797-1801 and it's an ordinary circulation coin worth ... ba DING ... one dollar.
The bicentennial dollar coin is still worth one dollar.
