Take another look at that coin. The dates 1789-1797 are the years George Washington was President. John Tyler was President 1841-1845. Either way, it's a modern presidential dollar coin, worth one dollar.

If you got it in change and it has a picture of the Statue of Liberty on the back and the denomination $1, it's not gold and it's not from 1841. It's one of the current Presidential dollars. These coins are made of gold-colored brass and 1841 is the year that the president (certainly W. H. Harrison) served in office. There are billions of them and they have no extra value so you can feel free to spend it.
