Also please note that ALL U.S. coins bear the motto "E Pluribus Unum" ("From many, one") so this is not a distinguishing characteristic of a coin. The denomination, date, mint mark, and condition are the most helpful characteristics to start with.

That's a bicentennial dollar coin, and it's still worth one dollar. The exception would be if the coin has an S mint mark and is made of 40% silver. These coins were specially struck for collectors and sold in individual packages. They can be worth $5 to $10 depending on quality.
1980 would make it a Susan B. Anthony dollar, and it's still worth one dollar.

Continued: I heard that if there is a M on the front of the coin it is a morgan which there is no M then i heard it would be considered a peace silver dollar but when i looked at the picture of a piece silver dollar the pictures were different.
