William Clark, one of the leaders of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, is often noted for his relatively fair treatment of Native Americans during his journeys. He sought to establish peaceful relations and engaged in trade with various tribes, demonstrating respect for their cultures. However, it's important to recognize that his actions were also part of broader U.S. expansionist policies, which ultimately had detrimental effects on Native American communities. Overall, while Clark's intentions may have been fair in some instances, the historical context reveals a more complex and often problematic relationship with Indigenous peoples.

Yes and no. There was only a few Asian-Indians in the US before the Luce-Celler act of 1946 which then allowed 100 Indians immigrating to the US per year (still not a lot I know) - because they were such a minority there was no need to legislatively discriminate against them; so they didn't use 'colored' bathrooms and district etc. Also many were educated which wasappreciateda great deal in the north, whilst there wasmiscegenationlaws in many states up until 1969 this was not specifically targeted at Indians and many probably could have gotten away withinterracialmarriage - especially Brahmin Indians who look very fair skinned and are often mistaken as Europeans. I don't doubt there was some petty discrimination; but as a generally there was no formal segregation against Indians sanctioned by the government.
