It was BAD! The slaves were carried by boats and were hung down so they could barely move. they got a break to stretch a leg but not for long. If one tried to rebel, they were treated even worse or, if nessessary, trown overboard. Today there is still a line of sharks in the Atlantic because they got free food over the years.
After they get to America, they were separated by their family and were whipped and tortured.
NOT GOOD!
i dont know why are you asking me?!
How was life in the 1920s for African Americans?
They had extended families to take care of them since they were separated from their real ones. They also held on to all there traditions.
It led the African MEN to have Rights to vote, was still lynching and beatings, and led former slaves
After the Civil War the 15th Amendment was passed that African American males were aloud to vote. This caused many secret southern organizations to sprout up including the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) that would terrorize African Americans. The members of the KKK believed that African Americans were lower then them and they believed in anti-communism (people not being equal to each other) Also since slavery was abolished (gotten rid of) because of the Civil War (13th Amendment that was passed that stated slavery be abolished) African Americans had to find a new way of life, they had to get jobs and live their own lives. They were no longer considered property of another person. Basically African Americans were terrorized by people who believed equality was wrong, and African Americans had to start their own lives and become their own people, no longer having an owner. Hope this helps! :)

How was life in the 1920s for African Americans?
After being freed from slavery, most African Americans had next to no money, land, or possessions that could help them start their life over. Most of the time, they simply became indentured servants on the same farms they had just been freed from.
Southern pro-slavery whites argued that slavery was a necessary economic institution that was vital to the Southern way of life. They believed that slavery was justified by the Bible and that it was beneficial for both slaves and slave owners. Additionally, they argued that African Americans were inferior and better off under the care of white slave owners.
They had extended families to take care of them since they were separated from their real ones. They also held on to all there traditions.
They did it through the determination and back then it was the normal way of life, they didnt see any thing else they could do.
