the.....ALIEN ACT!!! ur welcome!!! I was looking for that question like a while ago because i don't pay attention in class haha...
The Alien and Sedition Acts were a series of acts signed into law in 1798 that was designed to give the federal government more authority to deal with foreign nationals. These acts gave the president power to deport any "aliens" during peacetime, deport any "alien" with ties to the enemies of the U.S., and freedom to consider any articles deemed "libelous" as treason.
During the term of the second president of the United States, President John Adams, several events stand out. He ended the threat of a war with France in 1797 over a scandal concerning bribes to French negotiating agents on a new treaty. Adams ended the threat with the Convention of 1800. He supported and signed into law the Alien and Sedition Acts. This gave the president the power to imprison or deport foreigners and making criticism of the government a crime. These were generally unpopular laws. Also the US capital was moved from Philadelphia to Washington DC.
becauseit gave too much power to the national government and less power to the state, the executive branch would have too much power...and...there wasn't a plan for a bill of rights
The Alien and Sedition Act is where legislation gave the President power to deport any alien he deemed dangerous to the United States. They also gave the President permission to imprison any editor who criticized him for his actions. The only legislation did not allow the President to do was to give asylum to any immigrant he wished.

John Adams gave up the presidency to Thomas Jefferson in March 4, 1801.
