While rarity and value don't always go together that's mostly the case for Lincoln cents. The most expensive regular-issue cents include:

• 1909 S VDB - values as of 02/2015 are up to $95,000 depending on condition
• 1909 S, no motto - up to $35,000
• 1910 S - up to $35,000
• 1914 D - up to $41,000
• 1917 - also up to $35,000
• 1919 D - up to $42,000

There are also several very expensive minting errors among Lincoln cents:

• 1922 with a filled mintmark - up to $123,000
• 1943 D struck in bronze - $1.75 million (!!!)
• 1944 struck in steel - up to $300,000
• 1955 double die - up to $37,500
