"Chiga-chiga-chiga-chiga-chiga-chiga" is the call of the Great Plains Toad (Bufo cognatus, Anaxyrus cognatus).Specifically, the voice of the Great Plains Toad is a shrill, metallic rattle that carries over quite a distance. It is similar to that of a pneumatic drill. The call may be heard from April to September, but most particularly after the first warm rains of spring.
