In the United States, the group of young people called hippies wore a unique type of dress that stood out among the regular population. Here is a sampling of the types of clothing and appearance of the Hippies:
A. Long hair among men, accompanied by many of them wearing beards;
B. Men and women wore head bands;
C. Women and men wore beads around their necks;and
D. Weather permitting, many hippies wore sandals rather than shoes or athletic footwear.
If hippies wore shoes at all they would wear all types of shoes, but sandals were the preferred footwear.
Hippies look the way they feel like. theres no general way they dress. sterotypically they are portrayed as homeless care free people in bright tie dye and flowers. but that's just a stereotype. they wear what they feel. its more of a way of life not a fashion statement.
I have seen plenty of black hippies in the UK.
There really was no first hippie, it was just a style or lifestyle that began in the early 1960's. The first use of the term, "hippie", on September 5, 1965.
Girl hippies wear peasant blouses and long skirts and things like that, and guys wear colourful clothes with bell bottoms, tie dye and band t-shirts. Both male and female hippies wore sandles. Just search up hippie sandles and you'll see what they look like.
Hippies wore Bandanas.
I don't know why do hippies wear tie dye?

Hippies were prominent in the 1960's to the 70's. There are few hippies left yet there are people who follow their peace and coexistent ways. In a way there are hippies left, yet there are few. People still do follow their peace loving ways.
Some hippies may choose to wear skirts as part of their style and self-expression, but it is not a defining characteristic of being a hippie. Hippies typically value individuality, freedom, and peace above conforming to specific clothing styles.
