During World War II, Japanese Americans were forcibly relocated and interned in camps across the United States. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, the U.S. government, fueled by fear and prejudice, ordered the internment of around 120,000 Japanese Americans, two-thirds of whom were U.S. citizens.
