Okay, nothing happened except that Jefferson got first place and Burr got second. It was Hamillton that Burr challenged to a duel and Hamillton was killed. Many think that Burr challenged Jefferson to a duel and killed him, but this is not true.

In 1804 there was a duel between two prominent American politicians: the former secretary of the treasury, Alexander Hamilton, and sitting vice president, Aaron Burr. It happened July 11, 1804 at Weehawken, New Jersey and the result was that Burr shot and mortally wounded Hamilton.
