Answer 1

The usual ones for anyone crossing the Atlantic at the time: sea sickness, bad food, bad weather, crammed lodgings, wet clothes. Surprisingly enough all the Mayflower passengers survived the trip. But when they arrived it was too late in the season to build proper houses before the arrival of winter. So they had to weather the winter season on board the ship at harbor. That is when the cramped conditions and very poor sanitation took their toll. Diseases broke out carrying off almost half the passengers.

Answer 2

Size of ship ( exact measurements unknown ) was about 80 by 20. Half the size of a basket ball court. For over 100 passengers on a 2 and a half month trip. You could possibly put several HUNDRED, or more, into a contemporary cruise ship.
