What have blacks contributed to America?

Thousands were organized into African American regiments, who fought for their freedom with the Union. Others were assigned various tasks.

In the South, a few black regiments were formed during the latter part of the war, and many dug trenches for southern troops to fight in.

Blacks in American History have contributed a lot from the lowest of slaves to the smartest of Fredrick Douglas. Blacks were the main cooks in early American households while the rest of the family worked in the field. Blacks have also built not one but two white houses and also built houses for there masters and for there families. Throughout history blacks made music as the originators of rock and roll to hip hop. Plus they have dominated hollywood just like white people with celebrities like Diana Ross, Micheal Jackson, and Curtis 50 cent along with Will Smith. In 2008 a black president named Barack Hussein Obama took office, for many years African Americans wanted a huge voice in politics before Obama it was Jesse Jackson, and Martin Luther King who fought for equal rights for African Americans ( there's a picture with Jesse Jackson near Martins apartment where he was assassinated). Jesse Jackson also tried to run for president but didn't succeed. To wrap this up African Americans have made the country what it is today the people who will lead in the future and take America where it needs to go is Latinos.Latinos make up the majority in the country so expect to see a Latino president soon.
