England and English settlers were motivated by multiple reasons for colonizing such as national glory, wealth, adventure, and new sources of goods and trade. Being a protestant country, there were many conflicts between them and Spain. It was like a competition with to powerful rivals but I didn't intensify until Elizabeth took the throne of England and made the Protestant religion more dominant. Spain at the time had the most powerful navy and would bring boats of treasures back to Spain ubt England would steal from them and eventually an armada was organized to invade England but the English still won. This now made them the most powerful. Because of this, many people took over the land that the Spanish had obtained and tons of riches were brought to England. Soon entering a golden age of literature dawned in this exhilarating atmosphere, England had gotten powerful and wished to continue this adventure of new experiences.

Why were there a need for slaves in north America?

Some would say there wasn't a 'need' as such, it was the leaders that organised the shipping of slaves that influenced the idea that the people of north america needed someone to do the dirty work, because black people in that time were seen as less then the white, they believed that they 'needed' someone to do the cleaning cooking ect. more and more people became influenced and greedy so demand (need) for slaves grew :) hope this helped :)
