Were African-Americans and Native Americans enemies or friends?

From my Native American and African American background, I can tell you that my relative native american and african american families worked along side each other on the plantation. No, they probably didn't enjoy being slaves on a plantation, but it is evidence given from my 100 year old grandmother. She made a book about our family history I never forgot and the native american/ african american mixing was the most recent (meaning 1800's) further mixing of my already west indian family line. So, they were friends and a little more.

What advantage hepled most in the European conquest on Native American groups?

There were many reasons the European conquest was so successful. First, the sheer numbers of invaders was something the American Indian could not understand. Secondly, they had superior weaponry. The Indian had only what they needed. Third, the Eminent Domain mentality that made the invaders feel superior and worthy of the native lands allowed them to steal. lie, break treaties and generally view the Indian as an inferior animal.

What was the name of the last armed American Indian resistance to US rule?

That would have been the Wounded Knee Siege in 1973 where Lakota and other tribes joined with the American Indian Movement made a final stand for Native Rights. You probably were referring to the First wounded knee Massacre, but that was not an armed resistance. That was cold blooded murder of old men, women and children.

If your grandmother was part Indian and your great-grandmother was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian - would you be considered an Indian?

Partly, Yes.More detail:If you are 1/16 Native American (Indian), then you are considered Indian enough to qualify for Indian benefits, depending on your state's guidelines. For example, if your great grandmother was full Cherokee, then your grandmother would have been 1/2 Indian. This would have made your parent 1/4 Indian, and you 1/8 Indian, and your children 1/16 Indian. But in order to apply for, and receive certain Native American benefits, you must have proof of your heritage.

Chief Pontiac led an Indian revolt against the British after the French and Indian War because he was concerned about British encroachment on Native American lands and the violation of previous agreements made between the tribes and the French. He sought to resist British rule and protect the sovereignty and autonomy of the Native American tribes in the Ohio River Valley and the Great Lakes region.
