It really depends upon the condition. You can get a coin book which will give you a ballpark estimate or go to a coin shop. Or go to online coin buy/sell sites and see what they are asking. Answer If it is a copper-nickel clad circulation strike, it's worth a dollar. If it is one of the silver proof or uncirculated coins with an S mint mark and still in the original government package, it is about $10.

Coins from the mint are 40 percent silver in that year so yes they are worth more but that doesn't make the non-proof ones worthless. About 2-4 bucks is what a non proof is worth depending on condition and if the have a rainbow luster from age which collectors love even more. A proof one is worth about 9 bucks more if its got that rainbow luster.
