Without seeing the coin it's not possible to say exactly, but it sounds as if someone punched the letter A onto a standard Liberty Head nickel. If that's the case it destroyed any collectors' value the coin may have had. The good news is that 1907 Liberty Head nickels are pretty common in average condition so the damage probably cost only a few dollars.
Please check your coin again. Liberty head nickels were struck from 1883 to 1912. A 2007 nickel would be a familiar Jefferson nickel, and it's only worth face value.
