This date is one of the less-common coins of that series, called Barber halves after their designer Charles Barber. Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter below the eagle. It may be blank or there may be an S.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 06/2010:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $110

Moderately worn - $270

Slightly worn - $480

Almost no wear - $930

Uncirculated - $1,230 to $16,250 depending on quality

"S" mint mark (San Francisco):

Very worn - $17

Moderately worn - $52

Slightly worn - $108

Almost no wear - $389

Uncirculated - $660 to $11,380
