Values updated:

1923 US half dollars were only struck at San Francisco, as indicated by the small "S" at the 8:00 position on the back. They're considered to be somewhat scarce in circulated condition and rare in uncirculated condition. Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 04/2011:

Very worn condition - $15

Moderately worn - $35

Slightly worn - $100

Almost no wear - $924

Uncirculated - $1,620 to $32,500 depending on quality

DISCLAIMER: The retail values quoted are the best available as of the date shown, but may vary significantly due to changes in the precious metals market. Also the wholesale (buying) price of a coin will be less than the selling (retail) price. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.

A well-worn coin is worth about $5 A lightly worn coin, with most of the original details still showing, is worth about $75 A nice uncirculated one is worth thousands of dollars!
