That's somewhat of a tall order, but here are some things to look for that are different from modern bills:The words SILVER CERTIFICATE across the bill's top frontThe words ONE DOLLAR IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND across the bottom frontA blue seal and serial numbersA large number "1" to the left of Washington's portrait, instead the Federal Reserve Seal that's on modern bills.A letter after the date 1935. It may be blank or there may be anything from A to H.If the bill's letter is blank or A through F, the bill will not have the motto "In God We Trust" on the back. If the letter is H, the motto will be present. They are not really "Godless". NO American banknote (paper money) carried the words "In God We Trust." until 1957. The motto was permanently placed on all bills beginning that year as a political reaction to the threat of Soviet Communism which was an officially atheist system. The 1935 series of bills was actually printed into the 1960s so some of the later issues do carry the motto, though most do not. You'll need to know what letter if any is next to the date to determine its collector value.
Please check your bill again and post a new, separate question. "H" is the highest series letter for 1935 $1 bills.
The motto In God We Trust didn't appear on ANY U.S. paper money until the late 1950s so it's not a mistake if the bill is older. Its value depends on its date and what letter, if any, is right next to the date. Please look for questions like "What is the value of a 1935 US 1 dollar bill" for more information, depending of course on your bill's date.
