July 15, 2009 The Booker T. Washington Memorial 1946 half dollar was produced at 3 US Mint facilities; Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. After the series was completed many of the coins remained unsold. An estimated 1,500,000 of the coins dated from 1946 to 1951 were melted. The values for the 1946 coin are the same for each of the mints in which they were produced and is reflected in the chart below.
