The last silver certificates were $1 bills dated 1957.

If you have a 1976 $2 bill, please look at the banner over the top front of the bill, it will say Federal Reserve Note and not Silver Certificate. These are only worth face value unless they're in crisp uncirculated condition. Then their value goes all the way up to $3 or $3.50.
