Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter. It may be blank or there may be a CC or S.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 10/2012:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $36

Moderately worn - $70

Slightly worn - $110

Almost no wear - $379

Uncirculated - $780 to $25,350 depending on quality

"S" mint mark (San Francisco):

Very worn - $810

Moderately worn - $2,460

Slightly worn - $3,750

Almost no wear - $8,754

Uncirculated - $11,690 to $20,940

"CC" mint mark (Carson City):

Very worn - $1,500

Moderately worn - $3,910

Slightly worn - $6,810

Almost no wear - $24,582

Uncirculated - $43,800 to $70,630

DISCLAIMER: The retail values quoted are the best available as of the date shown, but may vary significantly due to changes in the precious metals market. Also the wholesale (buying) price of a coin will be less than the selling (retail) price. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.
