Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter below the wreath. It may be blank or there may be a CC or S. If you have a CC coin, it should be inspected by a professional grader to make sure it's not counterfeit.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 04/2010:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $15

Moderately worn - $25

Slightly worn - $60

Almost no wear - $283

Uncirculated - $480 depending on quality

"S" mint mark (San Francisco):

Very worn condition - $21

Moderately worn - $56

Slightly worn - $138

Almost no wear - $570

Uncirculated - $1,120

"CC" mint mark (Carson City) - if genuine:

Very worn condition - $12,900

Moderately worn - $17,580

Slightly worn - $19,810

Almost no wear - $48,543
