Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter. It may be blank or there may be a CC or S.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 05/2011:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $420

Moderately worn - $444

Slightly worn - $480

Almost no wear - $500

Uncirculated - $540 to $19,500 depending on quality

"CC" mint mark (Carson City):

Very worn - $450

Moderately worn - $510

Slightly worn - $630

Almost no wear - $5,856

Uncirculated - $20,630 to $28,150

"S" mint mark (San Francisco):

Very worn - $420

Moderately worn - $444

Slightly worn - $480

Almost no wear - $500

Uncirculated - $820 to $9,060

DISCLAIMER: The retail values quoted are the best available as of the date shown, but may vary significantly due to changes in the precious metals market. Also the wholesale (buying) price of a coin will be less than the selling (retail) price. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.
