What is the difference between the abolitinists and typical anti-slavery movements in precivil war America?
Abolitionists were the vocal advocates who vehemently opposed
slavery in any form and demanded its abolishing forthwith. Some of
these abolitionists even resorted to armed struggle like John Brown
who raided Harper's Ferry. On the other hand typical anti-slavery
movements at the time called for moderate reforms and were called
gradualists. They advocated gradual abolition of slavery.Ê
