The rich did have it easier than the middle class and poor classes. If rich people had businesses that could help the war effort they would convert their business to make things and weapons for the war. If they had businesses that did not benefit the war effort they often saw their business profits go downhill. Other people like entertainers usually did alright. The rich did have rationing so they had to find other methods of travel rather than use their cars very much. They often donated large sums towards the war bonds. Entertainers were very good about providing free food and friendship and entertainment at what they called "Canteens" for military people from around the world. They would also do USO shows and volunteer to do Red Cross services. Some rich people even joined the military. It did not matter if you were rich or poor everyone pitched in toward the war effort and prayed for their men and women to come home safely from the war. The rich business men started hiring women and blacks and Mexicans to do the work the Military boys left behind. Naturally not all the rich had to give up things, such as selling off cars or homes or things. They did not have to share rooms with others just to survive. Some of the rich people were nice and let military wives live in their homes.

It depends who you were, the gap between the Rich and poor were very great. The rich rarely worked and often times oversaw things like massive farms and Factories while the poor generally worked in those places.
poor
In the 1950s, life for the rich in America was characterized by affluence, marked by suburban homes, consumerism, and access to luxury goods and services. They enjoyed a lifestyle filled with leisure activities, travel, and cultural experiences. In contrast, the poor faced economic hardships, often living in overcrowded urban areas or rural poverty, struggling to access basic necessities like healthcare and education. This stark divide highlighted the growing inequalities in post-war America, despite the overall economic growth of the era.
