William Jennings Bryant was the prosecutor, and Clarence Darrow was for the defense. Neverminding anything else you have heard by overzealous news reporters, that was indeed, "The Trial of the Century". And our own century has not yet produced anything to match it.

It wasn't the issue, it was the men. Those two were the foremost orators of their time, and while history may have had others as good, none since then have been. It was a "Clash of the Titans", and money couldn't possibly by such drama as those fortunate enough to have witnessed it.
