You have described every British coin issued in 1797. Please provide the type of metal it appears to be made from, the diameter of the coin, the inscriptions and the design on the reverse.
The quarter was not the first coin for New Jersey. As a matter of fact, the first coin in the United States was the 1792 Half Dime. This coin was slightly smaller than our current dime.
it is an optical illusion (the coin appears to straight ahead but yet it is somewhere else)
