Best Answer

Carl Schurz came to the US in 1852. His home was in Bonn Germany but joined the revolutionaries of 1848. He was forced to move to London when the Prussian monarchy regrouped. He sought a new life in America. Since he retained his revolutionary ideas he decided to move westward along with many other German immigrants.
