There were actually two women's rights movements. One, called First Wave Feminism, began in 1848, when a group of women gathered for a conference at Seneca Falls NY; they wanted to work towards greater legal rights for women as well as gaining the vote (women's suffrage). The next women's rights movement, called Second Wave Feminism, began around 1963, with the publication of Betty Friedan's book "The Feminine Mystique" and continued with the founding of the National Organization for Women in 1966.

She thought women needed to fight for their rights.

women's rights movement
If I remember it correctly she is trying to show how hypocritical the women are at the women rights convention that she is at. The women wanted all people to have equal rights, men said no because women are inferior in their opinion. As a women, Sojourner Truth was also there to fight for women's rights. she gets up to speak, but the women then get mad at her and try to silence her because she is a BLACK woman and black people shouldn't have rights. it's ironic because the women are doing to Sojourner exactly what the men are doing to them. Men won't let women have rights, women get upset because it's unfair to not let someone have rights just because they are a different gender. But then women won't let sojourner have rights just because of her skin color. "Aren't I a woman too? shouldn't I be able to fight for woman's rights? I thought we were all on the same page here.." -basically Sojourner Truth
it stated when women were not able to have the same rights as men. it stated when women were not able to have the same rights as men.

In a debate you will begin by stating your position. Your position will determine how you frame your argument. In a historical traditional sense men were viewed as superior to women. This lent itself to many women's rights issues including suffrage, to education, to work, to fair wages or equal pay, to own property, to serve in the military or hold public office, etc. In a modern world women's rights have become human rights and egalitarianism or the equal treatment of men and women is much the norm or on the rise.
