She earned a college degree at a time when black women typically didn't, and she went on to become president of the National Association of Colored Women. Terrell worked for women's suffrage, and was protesting for equality for black people even when she was very old.

He purchase and owned several thousand acres of land in Arkansas, had cattle farms, cotton gins, lumber mills, and more.
