June 25-26, 1832 was the time when the Battle of Velasco occurred. It happened because a Mexican commander named Domingo de Ugartechea tried to stop the Texians from transporting cannon to attack Anahuac City, where William B. Travis and other Texian separatists were being held. After the initial battle, Ugartechea's men ran out of ammunition. The Mexican commander Juan Davis Bradburn was forced to release the prisoners and resign his position.
The Treaties of Velasco were two documents signed at Velasco, Texas, (which is now Freeport, Texas) on May 14, 1836, between Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna of Mexico and the Republic of Texas, in the aftermath of the Battle of San Jacinto (April 21, 1836).
The 26 June 1832 Battle of Velasco saw between 8 and 10 deaths with at least 12 others wounded. Mexican losses were 5 killed and 15 wounded. It is often forgotten in the History of the Texas Revolution and the Battle of Gonzales on 2 October 1835 which was also a Battle over posession of a cannon is most often called the first battle of the Texas Revolution.
A lot of it was because of the battle of San Jacinto, and the Treaties of Velasco. After the battle of San Jacinto, Santa Anna hid himself. Soon after he was found and captured, and held captive for some time. He was then asked to sign the treaties saying that he would no longer fight Texas, etc., and in turn he was to be released.
The Battle of Naseby was actually held in Naseby, Northampton.
The Battle of Velasco began on June 26, 1832, when Texian settlers sought to prevent the Mexican garrison at Velasco from transporting a cannon to the Mexican government. Tensions escalated when a confrontation broke out between Texian revolutionaries and Mexican troops commanded by Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea. The conflict was sparked by the Texians' demand for the cannon, leading to an armed clash that marked an early conflict in the Texas Revolution. The battle ultimately ended with the Mexican forces surrendering after a day of fighting.
Santa Anna signed the Treaty of Velasco after his defeat atthe Battle of San Jacinto.
