The Adams-Onis Treaty was important because it settled border disputes between Spain and the United States. Spain gave East Florida to the United States and the United States gave up Texas and $5 million dollars of U.S. citizen claims against Spain.
Spain got 30 million dollars, Holland 28 million dollars , Germany and Uruguay got 24 million dollars, the group of 16 qualifiers got 18 million dollars, and those who lost in the first round got 8 million dollars.
In 1822 the Adams-Onis treaty was signed. That proclaimed Florida to be part of the USA. The United States forced Spain to let go of Florida. United states bought it for 20 million Dollars.

Five million dollars just after Andrew Jackson barged through it and killed many indians that were killing innocent people on US soil. They were able to keep doing this because they would cross a border where they were considered "safe from US punishment." :D
