Since the definition of an anti-federalist is someone who opposed the constitution, obviously none of them signed it. Such men as Elbridge Gerry of Massachussets and Peyton Randolph and James Mason of Virginia had quit the convention when they saw that their ideas for a less centralized government were not going to be adopted. Federalists were in favor of a strong central government, and favored strong fiscal policies that included paying off the national debt, setting tariffs to make domestic industries stronger, and establishing a national bank. The Anti-Federalists were opposed to a strong central government, and preferred more power in the hands of individual states. They believed too much power in the federal government, along with a national bank, gave the government too much power, and could easily lead to tyranny.
