George Washington asked Betsey Ross to sew the American Flag.
A common myth is "George Washington, Robert Morris, and George Ross asked Betsy Ross to sew the American flag in May of 1776."In reality the first US flag could not have been until June 14th 1777, the date of the flag resolution passed by the Continental Congress. Most believe the first flag was designed by Francis Hopkinson, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. History does not tell us who actually made the first US flag. The popular story is that Betsy Ross of Philadelphia sewed flags, and may have made one of the early flags.
There is no record that anyone else other than Betsy Ross sewed the first American Flag. However, since it was not an "official" flag, there were others who sewed this pattern for various regiments.
Oh, dude, Betsy Ross? She was like, super creative - I mean, she designed the American flag, right? And she must have been pretty patient to sew all those stars and stripes. Plus, she was probably pretty patriotic, I mean, who else would take on the task of creating a symbol for a whole nation?

It was actually said that no one had asked Betsy Ross to sew the American flag. She was bored one day and had remembered that a couple years back, she had learned how to sew and thought it was pretty fun. She then picked up all of the materials that she needed and was one her way to sewing a beautiful site. That is how she had actually decided to sew the American flag. Keep in mind that there is no actual evidence that anyone by that name actually existed. The stories are anecdotal.
