Martin Luther King, Junior, believed in liberal arts education for African Americans. Before this, it was difficult or impossible for black students to get into good liberal arts colleges.

It is almost impossible to tell for there are still more going on. It is believed there were hundreds.
The strongest opponents of the war hawks were the Peace Party and the Federalists. They believed that war was unnecessary and would harm the country's economy and international relations. The Federalists in particular feared that a war with Britain would be detrimental to American interests.
Frederick Douglass however believed that the supreme court decision would actually hasten the end of slavery.
