Charles Curtis was the first US vice president with acknowledged Native American bloodlines. His heritage included Kansa, Osage and Potawattomie through his mother's side of the family. He represented Kansas in the US House of Representatives, Mar 1893 - Jan 1907. Then he was US Senator from Kansas Jan 1907 - 1913, and again from 1915 - Mar 1929. He was US vice president from Mar 4, 1929 -- Mar 4, 1933. He was a quiet hero; his main political platforms were for women's rights, farmer's rights, Native Americans' rights, and children's rights, though he had others lesser known as well.
